Terms of service
Last updated October 14, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and SOPpal (“we”, “us”) when you use soppal.com, the SOPpal Recorder browser extension and the SOPpal Recorder for Windows (together, the “service”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use SOPpal for a company, you confirm that you can accept these terms on the company's behalf.
1. What SOPpal is
SOPpal helps you record how work is done, turn it into step-by-step guides, share them, and train your team with courses, quizzes and tracking. Some features depend on your plan.
2. Accounts and your team
- Give accurate information, keep your password safe, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
- The person who creates a workspace is its owner. Owners are responsible for the people they add and for what those people do in the workspace.
- You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and use SOPpal only for lawful business purposes.
3. Your content
You own the guides, screenshots, courses, quiz questions and other content you put into SOPpal (“your content”). You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the service for you and the people you share it with. You are responsible for your content and for having the right to use it.
Recordings capture what is on your screen. Before you record, hide anything private, such as customer details or passwords. SOPpal blurs password fields and never saves what you type, but we cannot know what else is visible on your screen.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use SOPpal to:
- break the law, or record or share things you have no right to record or share;
- record people without any permission that the law requires;
- upload malware, or try to break, probe or overload the service;
- copy, resell or republish the course library outside your own workspace and team;
- share your account, or use automated means to create accounts.
5. Training courses and the course library
The ready-made courses in the library (for example HVAC, plumbing, electrical and roofing) are general educational material. They are not legal, engineering or safety advice, and they are not a substitute for licenses, certifications, building codes, manufacturer instructions or your employer's own safety program. Codes and rules differ by place and change over time. You are responsible for reviewing course content, adjusting it to your own procedures and local rules, and deciding who is qualified to do which work. Completing a course in SOPpal does not make anyone licensed or certified.
6. Plans, free trials and billing
- The free plan has limits on guides and people. Paid plans cover your whole team with no limit on people, and are billed monthly or yearly through PayPal.
- Paid plans start with a free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins and PayPal charges you the plan price.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time on the Billing page, and you keep paid access until the end of the period you have paid for.
- If we change prices we will tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next renewal.
- You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase.
- Refunds are covered in our refund policy.
7. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we protect it. It is part of these terms.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep SOPpal running, but we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or remove features, and we may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you, for example by email or in the app. Continuing to use SOPpal after a change means you accept it.
9. Ending your account and your data
- You can delete your workspace at any time from the Account page. That permanently deletes your guides, screenshots, courses and team logins, and cancels your subscription.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why first.
- Download or export anything you want to keep before you delete your account. We cannot recover deleted data.
10. Disclaimers
The service and the course library are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not guarantee that guides, courses or quizzes are complete, accurate for your situation, or suitable for any particular purpose.
11. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, injuries or property damage arising from work done by you or your team, even if we were told it could happen. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law permits.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which SOPpal's owner is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts of that state, unless the law requires otherwise.
