Troubleshooting a No-Cooling Call
A repeatable method for the most common summer call: gather facts, check the basics, trace power to the outdoor unit, and read airflow and refrigerant clues.
- Start with the customer
- Check the basics first
- Indoor unit runs, outdoor unit does not
- Everything runs but the air is not cold
- Using gauges: superheat and subcooling
- Closing the call

Measuring Airflow and System Performance
How to measure airflow, temperature split, static pressure, electrical values and furnace performance, and what the numbers tell you.
- Why airflow comes first
- Temperature split (delta-T)
- Static pressure
- Electrical measurements
- Gas furnace measurements
- Recording and trending readings
Built for
- HVAC companies training new helpers and apprentices
- Service managers who want every tech following the same procedure
- Owners who need proof that safety and refrigerant training was completed
What you get
- Every technician learns the same safety and lockout habits
- New hires get up to speed without a senior tech teaching the basics again

Questions
Does this replace EPA 608 certification?
No. The refrigerant course teaches the basics and the rules behind them, but certification is a separate proctored exam. Completing a course in SOPpal does not make anyone licensed or certified.
Can I change the course content?
Yes. Add a course to your workspace and edit the lessons, tools lists and quiz questions so they match your company's procedures and local codes.
How do I know my team finished?
Each course has a results page showing who has passed, their scores and any overdue people, and you can download it as a spreadsheet.
